Girls und Panzer 1/35 M3 Lee Rabbit team

by FoxThrowaway | Aug 2, 2026

This is a build of the Rabbit team, or commonly known as "Usagi-san" team's M3 Lee from Girls und Panzer!
This camoflague, if you can call it that, is "anime accurate" and was used during the training match against St. Gloriana Girls' College.

The kit that was used is the Platz GP-16 kit. Inside the box, get a kit of the M3 Lee (duh), a custom instruction booklet with a manga page on the front, as well as a clear file as a gift. The clear file has a drawing of the Rabbit team members in cheerleader outfits. It's not something that I am willing to share here because it's just a bit yikes for me. Not sure why they went with that outfit choice, but yeah.
The instructions are all in Japanese and they have the characters give you tips during construction, so have your favourite translation app ready.

The kit is a 1974 vintage Tamiya M3 Lee, and it's one of the few Tamiya kits where you can definitely feel the age. The parts, while they do fit together, don't have that classic Tamiya feel of it being put together without fault. Lots of trial and error with test fitting is needed, and it took a surprisingly long time to assemble what is a 100-odd part model kit.

Another interesting thing to note is that while this is an M3 Lee, it is missing some parts of the usual M3 Lee and the instructions call out multiple times for you to fill in some holes where equipment would go on a normal M3 Lee. Not sure why they decided to change a well-known tank, perhaps for licensing reasons? The same thing happened with the Panzer IV H (Anko team), where the Schürzen featured parts from both the early and late versions of the tank.

Enough babbling, here are some photos. Enjoy!!
